Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Boynton Boynton passed from this world on 2/22/09. We're not sure what took him from us, only that his wee heart finally gave out. It's taken this long for us to post this update as his loss has shocked and shaken us all. We'll always miss you B! Rest in peace sweet angel.

Button Button died on 4/28/09. Button came to us from the Kern County Animal Shelter where she'd been found as a stray. Button was starving and not eating on her own so the shelter let us have her before her stray hold was up. We put Button on a feeding tube but being starved for so long was simply too much for her to overcome. We'd hoped we had gotten the feeding tube in on time. Tuesday Morning while we were prepping her for a blood transfusion, her heart gave out on her and even CPR didn't bring her back. RIP Button, we're so sorry we couldn't save you.

Cappuccino Cappuccino was a sweet, 16+ year old kitty who came to us as an owner surrender. Cappuccino was a friendly guy in need on weekly fluids for his progressive renal failure. Cappuccino passed away on 1/16/10 from renal failure. We think he had a good life with us and we'll miss him.

Count Count was a street cat who came to us as an FIV+ and FeLV+ boy while we were on Annette Street. Scrawny and in ill heath from the day of his arrival, the Count won us all over with his charm and good manners. He was always good natured, it broke our hearts when he succumbed to FIP, a surprise with all of the other health issues he'd had. Rest in peace sweet Count.

Elmer Fudd Elmer Fudd was a very sweet, 12 year old, DSH, neutered, brown tabby male. Elmer Fudd came to us from the Fremont Animal Shelter on 11/22/08. He loved to travel in the car and drape himself on laps. Elmer Fudd succumbed to cancer and passed away on 2/13/09. RIP sweet angel.

Elmo Elmo came to us in pretty sorry shape and while he rebounded for a while he was in renal failure and we let him go.

Frito Frito died on 8/8/09 while out in foster care from complications of cancer. He'll be missed.

Jezebel Jezebel was a beautiful 5 year old girl who came to us i early 2006 as a semi feral. Jezebel came a long way over the years and despite chronic ear polyps and surgeries, she became quite friendly. We're heartbroken that this last round of ear polyps seemed to go much deeper, may even have been a tumor. Jezebel began having grand mal seizures on Monday night, 12/7/09 and was sent over the bridge. RIP sweet Jezebel, we'll miss your sweet face.

Josh Josh was a handsome, 15+ year old boy. Josh loves to be picked up and held. He loved to have his chin scratched and would happily lean into you for bum scratches. Josh came to us on 1/8/09 from the Oakland Animal Shelter with his buddy Matthew after their owner died. We lost Josh to renal failure on 8/8/09.

Lawrence Lawrence died of FIP on 5/16/09. We'll miss you sweet boy.

Maximillian Maximillian a neutered male, 5-6 year old, Silver Shaded Persian came to us with a bad mouth. We thought all he needed was a dental and were heartbroken to discover a massive tumor in his mouth. He stayed with us on hospice for a while, until he told us it was his time to go on 11/19/09. We'll miss you Max, you were a good friend. RIP.

Milo Milo was a neutered Persian. He was a really sweet guy. About 10-12 years old. He had been abandoned by his owner last October. The neighborhood adopted him but the person that brought him to the Los Banos shelter had 4 cats and knew Milo needed more attention, sadly at his age being in a shelter was just too much for this guy who quickly developed a URI and stopped eating. We did everything we could for him but Milo passed away on 4/6/2009. RIP sweet boy.

Montgomery Montgomery our sweet angelic boy came to us Oakland Animal shelter in January of 2006. Montgomery had many issues with his health while he was with us, we finally lost him to renal failure in fall of 2008. We still miss you lover boy.

Mischa

Mischa passed away due to complications of renal failure at the age of 20.

Roberto & Courtney Valladares were sponsoring Mischa.

Oakley Oakley is a senior 10+ year old, diabetic, grey and white tuxedo, neutered male. Oakley came to us from the Oakland Animal Shelter on 4/4/09. We were told he had Scabies and were thrilled to find he did not. Oakley was a diabetic who needed daily Insulin to keep him balanced. Unfortunately, even with daily insulin his quality of life was sad and Oakley suffered.

Peanut Peanut passed away suddenly on 8/5/09 from unknown causes. We'll miss you sweet girl.

Princess Buttercup passed away suddenly in February of 2010. We'll miss you pretty girl.

Scarlett Scarlet was a very sweet, 17 year old, DSH, spayed orange tabby and white tuxedo girl who was dumped at the Oakland Animal Shelter in early January of 2009 after her owner died. Sadly Scarlet had a massive mammary tumor that took her from us after only 2 weeks in our care. We hope her last two weeks were happy ones. RIP sweet angel.

Torbin Torbin was a handsome black and white cow kitty boy who came to us on 1/12/08 from Lake County Animal Control. Torbin was a constant ball of playful energy until recently when he began to lose weight. We sent him to Dr T who diagnosed him with dry form FIP. Torbin left us on 12/11/09. RIP sweet boy.

Tuna Tuna was a handsome, 12 year old (DOB: 4/1997), neutered, DSH, buff tabby, FIV+ boy. Tuna came to us in October of 2007 with Calisi. We nursed him for months and months trying antibiotics of all kinds and running a plethora of tests. He's had a dental and gets daily care from our volunteers and vet techs. We've come to the conclusion that Tuna is just Tuna. Tuna passed away from complications of his FIV in February of 2010.

Dan & Anna Duffy were sponsoring Tuna in Memory of Maria Sotelo Montenegro.

Whitney Whitney was a 20year old, all white, DLH girl who came to us from the Martinez Animal Shelter in April if 2009. She was in sorry shape when she arrived but she's rallied and besides fluids a few times a week, Whitney needs very little in terms of special care. She's an old lady so we never expected her to be around very long, we just hope her final days were happy ones. Whitney passed away in February of 2010.

Whitney was being sponsored by E. Richard & Roberta Power & A E Warren.
