Hello Everyone!
Zeke and Zach are doing just great! Having them for the last 10 months has been wonderful. They have very distinct personalities. Zeke is more reserved and a
little cautious. He is sleek and tall. Zach is a tad naughty at times and he's turning into a bit of a fatty catty. He gives me kisses on my nose. Both
touch my face with their paws and love hugs and attention. I always look forward to coming home to them! Thank you for caring for them before I adopted
them last December! Katie |

Just wanted to let you know that Tessa (formally Eskimo) is adjusting well to her new home. The window seat was a big hit from the start! I was surprised by how loving she is when we can get her to sit still! When she’s not sleeping, cleaning or being rubbed though she’s running through the house! She runs everywhere she goes.

Thank you for all that you’ve done for our little girl and for letting us adopt her!

Dear Dr. Thompson and staff:
Thank you so much in helping Lilly (formally Meadow) and I find the perfect addition to our family. From the minute I brought Pooka
(formally Able) home it was as if he was always a member of the family. He made himself comfortable right away and has continued to amuse us
with his silly frolics.
Pooka has no idea he is a cat; he spends his time trying everything I do. While brushing my teeth to vacuuming he is right by my side.
Everything is a game to him except when he takes the time to groom Meadow.
I am happy to report I am in Love with them both and all is well... In gratitude for all you patience and kindness,
Shelly |

Dear Laurel, Dr. Thompson and all the Nine Lives Staff:
Last weekend I adopted the big orange fuzzy Colby and frisky, whimsical Ethan (black skinny boy with white
paws). Just wanted tell you how they're doing.
Colby is now Ezra, a.k.a. Chairman Meow. He's so calm and sweet. He feels completely at home. Ezra sleeps on
my pillow every night. He nags when he's hungry. He now purrs, especially when he's in bed with us. He and
Logan, our big dog, are buddies. They hang out together on our sofa to watch The Daily Show.
Ethan, now Buzzy, is the absolute sweetest, most adorable cat ever. He follows me around the house,
jumps on everything, and purrs on contact. He races around, hurtles onto my lap for a cuddle, then leaps
off to resume his speed-skating. When we watch television, he stretches up to bat at the moving
images. Buzzy runs up to Logan and skids to a stop. Logan jumps up and barks, tail wagging. Buzzy leaps
away, then flies in for another pass, pouncing on Logan's tail. Buzzy's so inquisitive. Whatever we do
-- wash dishes, read in bed, sort through mail -- Buzz suddenly leaps in to check out what's going on. At
night, Buzz sleeps under the covers with us, until the mood strikes him to speed around the house. When Buzzy
is alone in a room, he meows until we call him.
Our other two cats, Anna and Sasha, are displeased. They hiss and spit at Buzz and Ez like two fat cobras.
They yowl and moan like Linda Blair in the Exorcist. I sometimes have to shut the two of them up in our guest
room. Anna absolutely cannot abide Buzzy and chases him. But Buzz and Ez are such good sports. Ez calmly
walks away from the hissing cobra kitties. And Buzzy -- nothing can suppress his sweet, playful nature.
Despite the new surroundings, big dog, and malevolent cobra kitties, neither Buzzy or Ezra have hissed or
hidden once.
Thank you so much for giving us these enchanting kitties. Good luck with your move!

Dear Dr. Thompson and staff:
About 6 months ago (a few weeks before Christmas) I adopted Cloudy (who now goes by Kimber). At the risk of sounding biased, I have to say she is the coolest, most unique and adorable kitty I have ever met. Throughout the yeas I have had several cats, all of which I have loved endlessly, but this one, well this one is special. She is friendly, loves everyone! Whenever someone comes to the door she is the first to trot up and greet them with meows, followed by bringing them one of her toys for them to play with her. Play, yes, she is also the most playful thing I have ever seen. She fetches everything (her favorite toy being a feather on a stick) though she also loves rubber bands, pipe cleaners, twisty ties, pens, yarn, dust in the air, and also a few actual cat toys. She will play fetch for hours, as long as she has a captive audience. She is very loving and affectionate too. Everyday she greets me at the door with happy meows, then runs to her scratching post, then climbs up my leg to be scooped up as she
purrs and licks me. She is curious about everything and doesn’t have a care in the world. She also enjoys bird watching, since we live in the Belmont hills there is plenty of that for her to engage in. Every night she curls up on my lap (even if I am still working on the computer) because she just loves the affection. I could not have asked for a more wonderful kitty. Thank you so much for all of the joy you have brought into my life by introducing me to Kimber.
Regards,Crystil (and Kimber) |

Dear Dr. Thompson,
Thank you so much for everything you have done for Bay Area cats! We will miss you very much. Good luck to you in all your future endeavors. I wanted to thank you and all the volunteers at Nine Lives Foundation especially for the wonderful work you did in saving one cat in particular. Neon, who is now call Dart (short for d’Artagnan) is now happy and healthy, thanks to all of you! When he was found he was at deaths door, emaciated and very ill. You nursed him back to health, from 6 lbs up to 11 lbs. Then I came along and he joined my little home for wayward cats, and he is nearly 13 lbs!! He runs and plays with his new buddy Porthos, and he cuddles with his new friend Athos, who cannot play so well, but who watches the other two as they run around the house. Thanks to all who nursed this poor guy back to health. Now he is healthy and happy, and brings joy to everyone he meets! - Kerry |

Ginger has settled into my home nicely. In fact, she is under the impression that my queen-size bed belongs to her; that is, she sleeps dead center and is not willing to give up her spot!
Apparently the water in the toilet is better than the water I provide each day-it is funny to walk past the bathroom and see her rear posed in the official "drinking position." Ginger likes to play in the bathtub-must be a cat thing.
Thank you for taking such good care of Ginger; she is a sweet kitty-likes massive amounts of ear-scratching, throat-rubbing and tummy -massages. All of which I provide with pleasure.

I adopted my cat Joy from the Nine Lives Foundation on March 17, 2007. She was a three year old grey cat that when at the shelter was scared and shy, but as soon as I brought her home she warmed right up. All she needed was some love. She demands attention from anyone that comes over and makes me laugh because she does some pretty funny stuff like... (she chases air). She follows me around and snuggles with me all the time. She is so loving and affectionate and I spoil her rotten!!!!!!! I look forward to coming home and having her there waiting for me. She has made my life so much happier. Thank you for all your help!

Dear Dr. Thompson,
Thank you so much for taking special care of our 16 1/2 year old cat, Mozart, in his last days with cancer. He had a great life and we miss him. We just wanted to let you know that Sasha and Sylvester (formerly known as Conrad) have now touched our hearts and made our loss so much more bearable. Our dog, Biscuit, has forced them to be friends with her and now Sasha helps Biscuit guard the house at the front window and Sylvester chases her tail whenever possible. It's great having two cats that wash each other... .we never have to clean their ears! Sylvester has become a big boy, but he is still very gentle when he wrestles with us or with Sasha and does not bring out his claws. What a wonderful pair of cats we found at 9 Lives!Thank you again and good luck with your future endeavors. Margie and Jim |

Hi Dr. Thompson and Wonderful Nine Lives Staff
We adopted Wooly-Baba to be a companion for Frosty after he lost his
brother due to FIP. After a week of tenuous introductions, Frosty and
Wooly are a perfect pair. They sleep together, groom each other, and every night entertain us with their antics as they play together with
much fervor. They are well matched in their energy levels and are
quite possibly the sweetest two kittens we've ever had. We spend many
an evening with them both cuddled up together on our laps while we
watch a movie. We adore them both and feel thankful to provide a home
for them. They give us joy and love every single day!
Warmly, Ashley & Tom |

Dear Dr. Thompson and staff,
I am happy to report that after one month Silverback (now named
Finnegan) has become a wonderful addition to our home and a much needed playmate for my active orange tabby, Henry. Though a little
shy at first, Finnegan now spends his days chasing strings, staring out the window, and curled up next to Henry on my bed. They have the
occasional wrestling match, but ends it with a good cleaning session of each other.
Thank you so much in helping me (and Henry) find the perfect cat. Katie |

Dearest Nine Lives,
Where do I start... in 2005 I was fortunate enough to be blessed with Kip (formerly Oscar- a beautiful Tuxedo kitty) and a month later Patrick (formerly Zoot-an all-American black kitty.) Just when I thought that my life couldn't get any better... I got two kitties for my
boyfriend Ryan who are now named Tango (another all-American black kitty) & Cash (possibly a Russian blue kitty.) We were told that they were brothers
... and I truly believe it. They get into everything and are very strategic about opening doors and climbing the shelves. Yes, when you think they can not possibly open a door, Tango proves us all wrong.
The story gets better... so, we decided to have all four cats live under one roof, and Ryan's house seemed to be the best match... and now we have four loving brothers who constantly bring us laughter, joy & unending love. Although we have four cats living under a small roof.
We would not trade it in for anything in the world. ;)
Personalities of each kitty really help the balance of our humble abode. Kip is the ZEN kitty (yoga box kitty), he holds his ground and has been the cat that brings the balance to the chaos. Patrick, we call the "baby face" kitty, his meow has
been that of a kitten (more like a high pitched "mew") and who seems to be the youngest of the boys. He constantly brings us gifts under our pillows (toys, hair ties, bottle caps etc.) and is a joy to sleep with. Tango creates the chaos and often serves as the instigator when a game of chase
ensues. Cash is just a great lap buddy. All our cats are loved unconditionally and have learned to love each other.
This is the only picture I could find right now, but you will get more. ;) (it's Kip in his yoga box, actually any box that he could get into, he makes it his mission to fit into the box.)
**This is not the end of the success stories we have to report...I had a hand in adopting a kitty for my mother and two
for Ryan's mom too. ;) All of whom are doing well-pictures to come soon.
For now, I just wanted to make sure that you all know that
everything you do is well appreciated. We are blessed to have Kip, Tango, Cash and Patrick as part of our family. They truly are angels.
;)
Truly, Pia, Ryan, Kip, Tango, Cash & Patrick |

Dear Dr. Thompson & Nine Lives Staff,
Thank you so much for our new kitty Bailey a.k.a Tabitha. We lost our cat also named Tabitha a month ago and as we go through this awful heartache, Bailey comforts us and entertains us with her playing. She is so gentle and appreciative of her new home. Thanks to Dr. T for suggesting an older cat, Bailey is 18 months and is so energetic & well adjusted. There are no words to express our appreciation.
Also I would like dedicate this email in loving memory of out forever friend “Tabitha Marie” November 1998 to November 2006. Thanks to Dr. Thompson for taking such great care of her.

Dear Maine Coon Adoptions & Nine Lives Foundation,
I just want to let you know that both Noelle and Gentry [photo on right] are doing just great! They
are both now in full time contact and they are friendly. Noelle is trying to make him play, but he is too serious most of the time. He shows her that he is a serious guy, but he is friendly to her. She is trying to make him run with her, and sometimes he does that. At lot of times they are following each other, so it was a good thing we have adopted them both. Otherwise Noelle could be boring to be just alone at home.
Gentry likes a lot to be on a high places like tables, bookshelves etc. But looks like he is testing us where he can do that and where not because he usually does that when we can not see him. At night he for sure is walking on the kitchen counters, and I’m thinking how to deal with that and not to scary him too much. He is absolutely adorable cat! As you said he has BIG soul and STRONG spirit!
Noelle is just a full joy! Looking for her to play is soooo much fun!
Regards,
Irina D. |

Dear Monica & Staff,
I wanted all of you to know how happy we are with Tessa. Our newest family member is doing great! This was our first adoption, so we weren’t exactly sure what to expect. Tessa spent the first two hours exploring her new home. She walked around everywhere and sniffed everything. We left her alone and went about our normal business. Tessa found her food, water and a new cat pole. She immediately started scratching. Afterwards she was very talkative and wanted to be wherever we were. She joined us on the couch. She was very happy to make use of the doughnut bed waiting for her there, so we spent a few hours together. I knew she probably needed a litter box, so I coaxed her downstairs and into the utility room. Waiting for her was a Scoopfree electric cat box. I wasn’t sure how she would feel about this. She jumped right in and took care of business. What are you guys doing to the cats there? You said great cat… but Tessa was turn key. (LOL!) In one week, this cat has worked her way right into our hearts. She is everything we wanted and more. Tessa is a wonderful kitty, happy, loveable and very sweet. I truly believe rescues know they have been given a second chance. We have ordered a 6 ½ ft. cat condo/play center. This should put Tessa at the top of her world. I cannot thank you enough or express the happiness she has brought to our home.
Warm Regards and Best Wishes for the New Year,
Rick, Sue and Tessa

Hi Laurel,
I am trying to rename her Gracie [formerly Lotus Blossom]. So far she has not really responded though.
>
We have had a lot of fun playing. Especially with the foil balls that you had told me about. She walks around with a foil ball in her mouth. She is very playful and also very loving. She snuggles up to me each morning in bed.
Thank you again for your support and the Nine Lives Foundation support. You guys are running a GREAT operation! I will be dropping by occasionally to visit the other cats.
Bye, Kelly |

Dear Dr. Thompson,
We wanted to express our gratitude to you for caring for us while we waited for our forever home. You took us in and gave us clean, warm, comfortable quarters, you kept us safe from harm. Your staff and volunteers worked very hard to see that we found our perfect forever home. Our new family loves us very much and spoils us all the time. We have lots of toys to play with and comfortable cozy places to sleep. We bring joy and laughter to our new family everyday. Thank you so much for all that you do.
With great appreciation,
Nessa Rose (Vanessa), Elphaba (Talia) and our new family Brian and Elaine

Dear Nine Lives,
My name is Genna and I am 9 years old. In July we adopted the most
beautiful cat, which we named Bonnie Blue, her real name was Bootsie.
I live next to my school and she goes there and all the kids think she's wonderful.
She let's them pick her up. She is great with little kids. She likes to hide
under the Christmas tree, and sits in the manger.
I really love my Bonnie Blue!!!!!!!

Dear Dr Thompson and Staff:
Just wanted to let you know that Sapphire as become a member of our family very quickly. She has learned that when Mom goes to bed, it is her time for love and cuddles. Her big sister Sable is showing her the finer things of life, l ike playing with strings and fishing poles. She has learned that food will always be there for her, she doesn't need to gobble it down. She has many warm places to sleep like on Mom and Dad's bed, by the fireplace or under the
Christmas tree!
She has brought us much joy and laughs are her Sable play together and she always manages to tease her really big sister, Sally, who is 12 years old.
Thank you again for allowing us to adopt Sapphire.
Frank and Kriss Kastl
P.S. in the picture, Sapphire is on the right and bog sister Sable on the left.

Dear Dr. Thompson and Nine Lives Staff,
I wanted to thank you for helping me find a new home. My new mommy lives in a
nice apartment in San Francisco and she spoils me rotten: I have my own bed,
lots of fluffy pillows, and lots of catnip filled toys. There is a lot of room
to play and a big window seat where I can watch the birds and cars. I am safe
and warm here and my mommy always makes sure I have lots of food to eat and
clean water to drink. I love the comforter on her bed and the big pillows I
sleep on. I love my tummy rubs and napping in my mom's arms. Even though the car
ride here was very scary, I have taken a liking to my new home and I wanted to
thank you for not giving up on me. I will never forget your kindness and care.
Love,
George (a.k.a Joe Cool)

Hi Monica,
Just wanted to let you know that our sweet Tehama rescue tabby kitties are settling in well. Formerly "Quip" and "Quentin," they are now Zach and Zelda.
Thank you for making it possible for Zach and Zelda to become part of our lives. They have great purrs and terrific personalities.
We love 'em.

Hi Monica,
Isabella and Rupert (formerly River) saw your website and wanted to send in their pictures. I decided to take a sabbatical from patent
law for a while and have been working on a book this summer. It's a mystery set in San Francisco called "How to Wash a Cat". Isabella
helps a lot with the writing. Rupert lends his support mostly by sleeping and keeping my seat warm whenever I get up - even if it's
just a minute ")
Thank you so much for bringing my two furry friends into my life. I don't know what I'd do without them! I hope all is well with you and
the clinic. Take care, Rebecca

We adopted Angelo and Gigi two years ago (you called them Angelo and Mona); they were very tiny babies just transferred from the Central
Valley and pretty fragile at the beginning, now they are big (OK, Angelo is big, Gigi's pretty and petite), happy, and inseparable.
Definitely a case for adopting a pair, they get upset if we separate them for half an hour!

Hi Dr. Thompson,
We just adopted Demi (now known as Reily) and Lola (now known as Bogie). They are so kind and sweet. Bogie loves to play and has
a personality all her own. Reily is a cuddle bug and has broken out of her shell. She now loves to meet new people. We are having
a great time with the kittens. I'm really glad that I fostered them or else we wouldn't have adopted them. We love them so much!

I brought Scully home on New Year's Eve. He was the one male cat who my cat, Harry, didn't seem to be bothered by in the visitor's room....he was known as the climber. Scully has easily adjusted to his new home & he and Harrison have become buddies--Harry is my outside cat& Scully is my inside lap cat. I recently went through major knee surgery and was homebound for several weeks. I am so happy that I decided to adopt Scully: he is an affectionate cuddler & loves attention. He also likes to sit in my lap--He's become a part of our family & we just love and adore him! Thank you to Dr. Thompson and Nine Lives for saving such fine feline fellows like Scully! He just loves his new home and we just adore him!

Hello Dr. Thompson and Jeanna,
Cleo is absolutely the perfect Kitty for my Mom. She never tries to escape from Mom’s studio room. She is very happy and content to be laying or sleeping on the bed.
As people come and go, she just sits there like a perfect queen and watches them with those big eyes. Mom and Cleo are a perfect pair.
She doesn’t like to be picked up or carried at all, but that’s OK. She is happiest when we just sit w/ her. But wanted to let you know we are very happy to have given Cleo a 2nd try. We love her. And she seems very happy, too.
I will send pictures soon. She’s quite the rotund little thing now, too.
Take care and hope all is well at Nine Lives.

Hi Nine Lives Foundation:
I adopted a cat named Sylvia from Maine Coon Adoptions that had previously been at your shelter (living with her friend Storm).
Sylvia is doing great. I am attaching a really cute photo I took of her tonight. According to a previous e-mail from 9 lives and her medical records, Dr.
Thompson saved her life. Thank you for taking care of her. Sylvia is living the "life of Riley" with a male Maine Coon cat named Toby,
my boyfriend and myself in San Francisco. I think she is pretty happy.
Best Wishes to you, Lori |

Hello All,
I just wanted to update you on Anita. While a little shy towards me at the center, Anita dropped all pretense as soon as she got home. She's an absolute love! She followed me from room to room and initially sat about arms length on the highest perch she could find. After about two hours she started playing a game of hide and go seek. She'd go into another room, wait a couple of minutes and meow. I'd go room to room, with her meowing when she knew I was in the wrong place. The game ended with her coming out of hiding, purring, reaching out her front paws and trying to climb into my lap. She's already taken ownership of the condo and the bed. She slept curled up next to me. This morning she didn't want me to go to work--reaching out her paws and trying to jump onto me to get me to go back to sleep. I can't wait to get to know her better, she has so much love to give.

Hello nine lives.
Just wanted to let you know that I brought Craig home last night and we are officially in love with each other. He is SOOOOO amazing. He slept with me the whole night and watched me as I got ready for work this morning. I have named him Hampton DuPres.
So I am attaching a photo of him on my bed. I just want to thank you for letting me adopt him and let you know he is in good hands!! |

Hi Dr. Thompson and the staff @ Nine Lives,
Just wanted to tell you what a joy Flynn has been. Having been an adult when I adopted him, it took about a month for his true sweetheart personality to come out. Boy was I glad I was patient. When you pet him now, he doesn’t just push his head up into your hand, he actually leans his whole body into you and falls completely against you. That shows complete trust and comfort in my book. When he is in his sleeping portion of the day, nothing bothers him; he is just chill. I can vacuum around him, work at my desk with him underneath or sit on my bed next to him and watch TV and he will not budge. My other cats give me that “how rude” face and leave the room when I do those things. When he is awake, he is very active and fast! When we walk into other rooms and see him staring out the window, I think he thinks that he is doing something wrong, though we have never said anything to him about it. He will zoom past us out of the room and get into his bed like he feels guilty and wants to prove his innocence. He is a considerate companion to the other household felines allowing them first crack at food, attention and the cushiest places to take a nap. He is just happy to be part of a family. The picture says it all! Thank you for giving him care and shelter until he could find his forever home. He is a gem and we love him!

Dear Doctor Monica and staff:
Well it's been 4 months and we love our new kitty, Lila, (formerly Angel) and she has assimilated quite well. She is mostly outgoing but is a
little shy of strangers still. She took to her big "brother," Jordan, and he to her - they seem to be getting on fine. We love to tease her by playing with the cat dancer and letting her slide and "crash" around the hardwood floor Since Lila - our 10-12 year old Jordan (who was probably about 20 pounds) is now relatively slim - she has been a good play pal! Thanks to all you do at the Nine Lives !

Dear Nine Lives,
We adopted Marshmallow (the grey and white kitty) as a companion for Coco (the big Main Coon), who we were told could not be around other cats. Dr. Thompson suggested that we bring Coco down to choose his own friend, and he chose Marshmallow, who was clearly his favorite out of a line of other cats. Marshmallow has been a smooshy, cuddly friend who we love ever since, and as you can see from the photo, Coco likes him OK too!
Thanks so much for Marshmallow and all that you do for the other cats in need.
Sincerely,
Jen and George

What a joy Lilo has been as a member of our family. We can only imagine how
different her life -- and ours -- would be if you had not scooped her up
when she was abandoned. Now a three-cat household, we love Nine Lives for
all our vet needs too.

Dear Dr. Thompson and Staff,
Calica came to us on March 3rd, and she has already taken over the household and our hearts. She looks like a little bobcat or a lynx, so we have renamed her "Maya", which sounded more exotic! My husband calls her "Maya-cita", which means Little Maya in Spanish. He was the one who wasn't sure about getting an animal, but she has obviously won him over!
Her first bath nearly resulted in having to call the paramedics for my daughter and myself - she has no problem defending herself - but we all survived and she is absolutely beautiful and silky today. She has quickly claimed my favorite chair as her own, and when we arrive home she comes to the door to greet us and tells us about her day. Naturally, she ignores all the toys we purchased, but loves the flexible ties that come off the produce bags. An empty box near the door is also "her place" - she hops right in and just looks at us as if to say "What are you looking at"?
She has the sweetest personality and we are lucky that she came to us to share her "forever home".
Best Regards,
Lynn

Dear Nine Lives,
We adopted our beautiful Sophia in Los Gatos about 3 weeks ago. Sophia reminds us each and every day how important it is to be
gentle, tender and graceful. Her loving energy has brought a sense of peace into our home. Her playfulness has blessed us with pure fun
and a lot of exercise and her sweet affectionate nature has filled each and every one of us with outstanding joy. We will forever be
grateful for your service of rescuing cats and then preparing them for adoption. If it were not for your hard work and dedication, we
would not have found our new family member, Sophia the Little Princess.
Thank you, Mari, Roberto, Daniel, Luna and Matthew

Please let Dr. Monica know that the adoption with Caroline has been GREAT! She is a wonderful cat and she is getting along well with our resident cat--they actually are playing together. Caroline sleeps with me every night and I can't go to the bathroom without her on my lap!
Thanks again for rescuing this wonderful cat.

Dear Dr. Thompson,
It's been almost 3 months since we adopted Matthew (now known as Socks). He's been an ideal companion -very friendly, responsive,
entertaining, tolerant, and clean. He's won over everyone in our family, including my wife, who was very reluctant to get a
cat. Thank you so much for bringing him into our lives and taking care of his health needs.
Here is a recent photo of him in case you want to include it with your success adoption photos.
Sincerely,
John B

Hi 9 lives,
We adopted the cat you called Wendy. We've renamed her Izzy, aka Fizzy, Dizzy, Busy, Squirrel Nutcase, Isabelly and when she's particularly wild I call her Feral Meryl. You weren't kidding when you said she plays nonstop. She's into EVERYTHING!! Its a good thing she's so funny because she requires more management and attention than any cat we've had.
Our lazy lump male kitty growled at her at first, but now they are the best of friends. They tear through the house together during "thunder paws hour" after dinner. And I have awakened more than once at 5:00 AM to find them both staring down at me with an intense "feed me" look. Izzy
must have been feral once because she eats like she hasn't eaten in weeks, growling if you get near her. She inhales her food and then steals what she can from the other cats'
bowls. You thought that it was interesting that she likes hummus. I'm still looking for anything she won't eat. She's eaten broccoli, cauliflower, soy burgers, and even managed
to steal a very hot chocolate chip off the top of cookies I had just taken out of the oven. She's given us lots of laughs, drives us crazy, and we love her lots. Thanks for
rescuing her. |

Hi there to all the marvelous people who looked after Henry, until I showed up.
I got interviewed by one of the local papers and tried to say nice things about the shelter.
I did not do any where near an adequate job of praising the shelter.
I adopted the orange cat, you called Henry. Since he showed up with that name and he hadn’t asked me to change mine, I call him Henry too.
I don’t know how well you guys could remember a single cat. He’s on the small side and is FIV positive.
He speaks well of all of you and assures me, although he is happier in his home, he appreciates the kindness and protection you were able to provide him.
He and I get along famously. He brings me joy each and every day. He seems happy. He is a cat, so one never really knows.
Henry is affectionate and attentive to all who visit. I’m certain if the grand ladies of the shelter hadn’t spent some time loving him, he’d never have been so pleasant to me or my guests.
He really is a grand and glorious addition to my life. It may sound a bit odd, that a fifty-year-old man would be so fond of his damn cat, but I am!
Humans do a really lousy job of caring for creatures they’ve domesticated, over the centuries. The work you folks do, looking after the cast-offs and their progeny is truly great.
Having a place to go, in my community, where cats are available as healthy, neutered and so ready for a home is fantastic.
Henry and I sleep a little easier each night knowing someone cares enough to look after the feline homeless.
We both thank you again, K & Henry

Hi there
We adopted Sierra and Maktah from you in August and I wanted to send you this photo.
They are the best kitties; fun, affectionate and bundles of joy. There’s nothing they love more than curling up on the sofa and purring.
Thank you so much for providing these little babies – they’re the best

What we know of Goose's
back story is that she was dropped off at a shelter badly burned on her back in March 2004. Dr Thompson took her in and started nursing her back to health.. I first met Goose in May 2004 when we came looking casually for a companion cat to one we had adopted from another rescue the previous year. Goose's back was still burned and bare, with bandages and ointment, and she was not available for adoption at that time. When we came back in August looking more seriously for a cat, Goose's back had largely healed, with just a few bare spots left. When my husband entered the feline playpen, Goose hopped from her shelf onto his lap and starting making the most joyful
squeal we had ever heard from a cat. There's no doubt that she picked him that very moment, and we took her home a few days later with ointment for the last of the burn spots.
Today, she is an incredibly joyful, friendly cat who greets everyone with a
squeak and has even convinced our skeptical scaredy cat to be her friend. Her coat is beautiful, long, and soft, and you can only see the few bare patches when she sits just right. She earned her name of Goose for her silly behavior - always climbing on things, crawling into boxes that are too small for her, and jumping for bugs that happen to get in the house. We are so grateful to the staff of the Feline Well Care Clinic for nursing our Goosey girl back to health so that she could bring joy into our lives every day.
Thanks, Kate W. |

Gracie a.k.a Star.
I'm so happy that we finalized our kitty's adoption today! She is such a great girl.
We came to an adoption fair at Nine Lives a month or so after our cat Clyde,
who had been with my husband for 14 years, died. We didn't know if there
was another cat out there for us yet, but we thought we could look. Clyde
was a great cat and she had set the bar pretty high.
We got to Nine Lives and thought we'd look at some kittens, but as we were
being shown around to the various kitten cages, I noticed that I'd lost my
husband. He was in front of a cage containing an older blonde cat who was
enthusiastically ramming her head into his hand. Her name was Star, and she
was very soft and had pretty yellow eyes. One of the aides took her out of
her cage and brought her into a small room with us, and within minutes she
was snuggled next to me, purring madly. Star had a new home.
She is a slightly irregular kitty. She has deformed toes on her front feet,
and one of them looks as though she is doing the Vulcan hand gesture from
Star Trek, which is why she was dubbed Star at the shelter.
She went home with us a few days later, and we gave her the new name we had
chosen, Mary Grace (aka Gracie, Mary Graceless, Gracezilla...). At the
time, we thought she needed a dignified name, because we thought of her as a
dignified kitty. She has since proven to be a bit more of a clown.
Gracie has been with us a month and a half now, and she is such a joy. She
is a very love-y girl, and demands to be on a lap whenever possible. The
only place she likes better is a basket full of laundry, fresh from the
dryer. I admit that my husband and I have sometimes done a load of laundry
to appease her and buy ourselves a little uninterrupted work time in
exchange for a basket of warm towels.
This week, she is in love with crinkly paper bags, a fur octopus, and
watching paper come out of the printer. She is pretty sure there's
something interesting behind the TV, if she could only get back there. She
does not fear the Roomba. Visitors may be allowed to give her a head
skritch after a thorough sniffing. She saunters out to meet us when we come
home, and the first order of business is to Love the Gracie. I'm not really
home until there's a cat on my lap.
We definitely got picked by the right cat for us. Thanks so much for the
work that you do, and for having Gracie waiting for us.
Thanks!

Hello folks- I recently adopted a little tuxedo girl named Phoebe from your organization. The day my daughter and I came in to look around, Phoebe's foster mom was there as it was an adoption fair day. We looked at several cats and kittens and she suggested looking at the "Friends" sisters. As we already have 2- 6 month old boy kitties (from a different rescue), she suggested Phoebe as having the
temperament and self confidence to deal with 2 older "brothers". Just wanted to let you all know that she fits in like a glove! She just has the greatest personality and is SUCH a
love bug. My older daughter renamed her "Mo Mo" which in Japanese means Peach because of her great attitude. We all love her so much and she's treated like quite the princess. Even her brothers are great with her-she shoves her way into their food dishes with no problem!
Just thought I'd let you folks know of our little success story and thanks to everyone for the great jobs that you all do!
Sincerely, Becky
