Placing A Cat
We are currently at maximum capacity, with both our shelter
and quarantine areas full. Sadly, we must turn away 100-200 requests a month to
take in a cat. We are a private, non-profit group, and do not receive any
government money. Please do not leave your cat on our property -- in addition to
being a felony in the state of California, abandoning your cat here places the
cats we currently have in jeopardy, and puts that individual cat at risk.
The majority of our cats come from California's Highest-Kill public shelters. at
the moment we pull from more than 15 shelters around the state. While we do make
exceptions on occasion and accept owner surrendered cats, we must have the space
to do so. We do not have a waiting list. When we are able to take in private
surrenders, we require a $100 surrender fee per cat and a full vet exam by our
on staff veterinarian before we will consider taking in any cat. That said,
every owner surrendered cat that we take in fills a space that could have saved
a shelter cat's life.
Below are a couple of links with information we have put together to help you. The
first is a list that contains tips on how
to find a home for your cat yourself, and includes questions to ask to make
certain the home is a good one. The second link contains information on
trap-neuter-release programs and local contacts for feral cats.

Sasha was a 3 year old when she was hit by a car. She is now running around on three legs and doing very well. Sasha is a little shy when she first meets you, but warms up quickly and is very loving.

Teddy Bear is 4-5 years old. He is very friendly and wants to snuggle on the sofa. Teddy Bear is FIV+ but very healthy and could give you many happy years.

Cascious is 15 lb, 4 year old, neutered male, and almost entirely white with a
brown forehead and tail. He also has beautiful blue eyes and giant paws.
Cali is
an 8 lb, 3 year old, spayed female, and has brown and black stripes with a small
orange diamond on her forehead and pretty hazel eyes. Both have their claws.
Cascious and Cali were adopted from the San Jose Dog and Cat Shelter. Both are
in perfect health with incredible dispositions and behavior. They are both also
litter box and house trained. They never spray and only scratch on scratching
posts. He’ll take you for walks outside and loves to wrestle. She’ll let you pet
her for hours and loves to go blanket diving in your bed. He talks and sings
like a mockingbird. She whispers like a church mouse. They’re very attached to
each other and so should be adopted together, but together he’ll give you all
the love in the world and she’s just as happy to take it. Due to extenuating
circumstances, they both have to go, but they’re the best pets you could ask
for. Pretty much everything you’ll need and they’ll want goes with them too. I
would prefer that they be adopted by a female owner and someone between 18 and
40, if at all possible. Contact Information

Chaos is a sweet middle age cat who needs a quiet home.
I got Chaos, and her sister, Entropy, a pair of cute long hair domestic cats in 1993. Chaos was the shy one, and Entropy the outgoing one.
I got married several years later, and my wife brought her cats with her. Chaos had problems adapting to the new cats, who were much more
bold than she. Six years ago we had a son. Chaos really did not adapt to a small child.
Chaos, and Entropy, developed inappropriate elimination problems. After a lot of effort our vet suggested that we isolate Chaos and Entropy from
the other cats. This worked moderately well until Entropy died of diabetes a few months ago. Chaos is now very lonely and unhappy.
Our cat behaviorist suggested that she would be happier in a home with no pets or small children. Reluctantly we are putting her up for adoption.
She is spayed, and up to date on all vaccinations. She is a shy and sweet cat. Once she gets to know a person she likes to sit on them,
purr, and nap.
